Offline marketing is an integral part of a marketing strategy. Here’s how to create an effective offline marketing strategy.
- Integrate your offline marketing strategy into your current online strategy. Examine your online marketing strategy to see where you can optimize your efforts. For example if you’re currently offering an email newsletter, is it possible to translate that into print and leave a few copies at local establishments? Can you purchase, rent or borrow a mailing list and send a coupon highlighting your current promotion?
- Explore your local resources to see if partnerships are possible. For example, if you own and operate a business which makes custom holiday stockings perhaps you can partner with a local craft store. They can offer coupons or flyers for your business and you can link to or promote their store on your website.
- What organizations can you join or participate in locally? For example does your community have a small business association or chamber of commerce? Do you have local mastermind or networking groups?
- Advertise in local media. In many communities there are booklets that are dropped off or mailed to residents. These booklets contain advertisements or coupons to local businesses. If it makes sense for your business, investigate the cost and potential return on investment. Also consider advertising in your local newspapers and publications.
- Flyers and brochures. Many business owners create beautiful flyers and brochures without much thought about where they’re going to be able to use them. Mailing them without a targeted list can be a huge expense with little return on investment. Instead, consider where you’re going to place the flyers first and then design them for that location. For example, if you offer pet sitting services then you may want to speak with your local pet groomers and pet supply companies to see if they’re willing to post your flyers or brochures.
Remember that often a little cross promotion goes a long way; you can offer to promote their business in exchange for promoting yours. With any marketing tool or tactic, take the time to track and plan your strategy and test for results. Offline marketing can take time but with proper testing and analysis it can produce very effective results.
